Cyber Security
Protect from Attacks

What is Cyber Security?
The definition goes as follows: Cyber Security refers to the body of technologies, processes, and practices designed to protect networks, devices, programs, and data from attack, damage, or unauthorised access.
As organisations transmit sensitive data across networks and other devices in the course of doing business, Cyber Security describes the discipline dedicated to protecting that information and the systems used to process or store it.
Cyber Security may also be referred to as Information Technology Security (I.T. Security).
Why Cyber Security should concern you
Now that you have a broader idea of what Cyber Security is, why is it so important for you?
Cyber Security is vital because every business (large and small) collects, processes, and stores unprecedented amounts of data on computers and other devices.
Yes, so do you. Unless you put everything on little notes, don’t write emails, search for information in a dictionary, do your accounting on paper & only handle cash transactions, of course. However, that’s hopefully not the case, as we’re now in the 21st century.
A significant portion of your data can be sensitive information, whether that be all sorts of financial data, intellectual property (copyrights and patents), personal information (your employees, suppliers, and customers), passwords and authentication codes, or other types of data for which unauthorised access or exposure could have dramatic consequences for you and your business.
Imagine someone would effortlessly hack into your email account, having access to all your messages. What would they find? Probably all they were looking for…
If your business gets attacked, not only would this be catastrophic for the obvious reasons, it could also bring legal challenges for you. Did you know that, by law, you are required to keep all data (employee info, customer data, etc.) secure at all times? This is big trouble you certainly want to avoid.
Cyber-attacks are an increasing threat, worldwide. As the volume and sophistication of cyber-crime grows globally, businesses and organisations need to take steps to protect their sensitive business and personnel information.
The purpose of an attack could be anything from the theft of money and information (personal and product information), the sabotage of your server and website availability, or intimidation and manipulation for the hacker’s personal amusement (trolling).
Whatever the motivation for an attack might be, the most difficult challenge in Cyber Security is the ever-evolving nature of security risks themselves. All businesses, from a big global corporation to small local businesses, are vulnerable and in danger of cyber-attacks.
Better act now and don’t wait until you ask yourself “Why me?”
